Do a liquid culture, it will turn 1 CC of spores into 10-20 syringes of a mycelium suspension very easily.

try the karo tek!~
turn that 1.5cc's into 100cc's!~
try this...
4cc's karo light
96cc's of warm water.
stirr it up really good.
put a marble into the jar...to break up the mycelium later.
put your lid on.
pressure cook it for 30 mins at 15 psi, or 45 at 10 psi.
after you are done pressure cooking the jar...let it cool down.
after it has cooled down inoculate with 1cc or 2cc's...from your spore syringe.
swirl the jar around a little to mix the spores into the karo water.
then put into your incubator...81 to 84 degrees F.
the jar will come out looking like this when it is colonized.

Would that actually increase the spore count though??
It would be good to be able to store whatever medium was created.

the only way to increase the "spore count" of a syringe is to grow it out and take a spore print.
If i were you, i would make 2 liquid cultures. using 3/4 cc per jar. that way you have 2 LC's, in case one contams.

so from the mycelium growth in the jar, you can suck up the liquid back into a syringe and inoculate the same way you would if it were spores in the syringe? does it colonize to the substrate in the same manner?

yes
after breaking up the mycelium in the jar...you would suck some into a syringe.
making a mycelium syringe.
the mycelium syringe starts colonization faster that a muti spore syringe.

what is it with karo, why is that used so often for liquid cultures? crazy shit, all of this. what does the marble do exactly, just a mass to help stir the mycelium?
the 4/96 karo/water you mentioned, is there anything else to it really? i just don't understand how karo enables this

i guess spore prints are archaic in a sense, the continious grower could just repeat this cycle forever.

Not really. LC's and Grain to Grain transfers can only really go 3 generations. Eventually you will have to grow out and take a new print and start the process over. Karo TEK is good but I prefer Malt extract and Dextrose.

yea, i had heard the mycelium looses strength over time. mushrooms get deranged after awhile..
prints seem so odd to me, i don't know why.

several different things are used to make LC's.
Karo is just one of them.
Honey works well too.
Malt Extract does a very nice job also.
The spores germinate...creating mycelium...the mycelium grows from the nutrients in the Karo or whatever you use...this makes it possible.
