Bumpy Texture on stems..
    #4193976 - 05/19/05 01:52 AM (18 years, 10 months ago)

I have three casings and are on the second flush.

As I was picking them earlier I noticed that the mushrooms that are growing in one of the casings has a bumpy texture on the lower portion of the stems. They also look as if they were almost bruised as they had an off dark color where the texture was bumpy(which could be spores I dunno). The other two casing are perfectly white and fluffy.

I've had several casings in the past but have never ran into this before. Is this normal or should I throw those mushrooms and that one casing away?

Hope this makes sense it's almost 1:00am and I just had a 12hour day at work

Keep an eye on it. So long as there aren't any nasty odors, or this "texture" doesn't expand, it prolly nothing. But keep it in the back of your mind.

Sadly, the only camera I have is on my phone and the picture didn't look good at all. It looks almost like 80 grit sand paper.

No, I used 1/2 verm and 1/2 coco coir. The casing layer looks healthy and in good condition. It's only the fruits that look kinda odd.

Ok... a few weeks after I posted this the casing fruited again and the mushrooms looked the same. This time I begged my buddy to come down with his camera and take a few shots. He FINALLY sent them to me today via email.

Sorry that their a bit blurry. Unfortunately these are the only pics he took.

Edit: I split the casing before I tossed it out and there were no discolors. It looked rather dry, however.
