Can you use honeywater/karo to add nutrients to grains...?

Just wondering if anyone has tried using honeywater or karowater instead of just plain water to PC grains with. Seems like it would add more nutrients... But I havn't found anyone that has tried it. Is there a downside I am missing?
Thanks

Try either horse poo "tea", cow poo "tea" or wheat straw "tea". These will boost the nutrient levels in your grains, as they soak or steep. To make any of the above teas, just place the media of choice in a pillow case, submerge in a pot of water, weight it down good so it doesnt float. Heat to almost a boil and keep it at that temp for about 45 minutes to an hour. Then remove the pillow case full of the media, and the remaining liquid or "tea" can be used for your grains. bluhoney

This is VERY true. I'd still use the poo tea, then use liquid innoculant. Thumbs up on a new idea though. Maybe you could try it and see if it works?? Could be a whole new thing.

i have added a couple of tbs of dextrose to 3 cups of grain to see if anything would happen, nothing super noticeable

After i have simmered my grains, drained them, and added to the jars; I mix about 1 cup of warm water with 5 tbsp light karo. I then add a small ammount of the water to the jars and shake before PC'ing. not sure if this acctually speeds up colonization, but its one of the things I do. it certainly doesnt hurt.

i inoculated with liquid culture consisting of deluted agar. colonization time was much quicker, but that is likely because it didnt have to wait to germinate

For one of my WBS grows I added a few tbsp's of karo to the water some of the grain was soaking in. For the other half of the grain I just soaked it in water. The WBS that was soaked in karo water began colonization more slowly than than the regular WBS, but after it got going it finished up faster and stronger. So its definately worth trying.

Yes but raising the sugar level to 4% also will inhibit the growth of many bacteria which cannot survive at this high sugar content, so it may actually reduce the possibility of contams. I spoke of this in the link in my post 2 up from this.

Sorry this has nothing to do with what you guys are talking about, but I think I have a small crisis on my hands! I have a question (obvious) maybe a problem I am an amateur grower, I am currently culturing Psilocybe Cubensis, I have approximately. I say approximately because it is becoming hard to keep up with growth. Well any way for some reason my Subjects don?t grow up toured the sunlight. They are growing out the side and bottom, their size is becoming a problem because I have already had to transplant to a new terrarium. They will not grow to the above light Can anyone help me with this problem

Also you may want to try this on your own subject but I have found that using a Xenon LED with minimal power supply has cased my subject to increase the growth rate by 50% (I?m using controlled experiments) so I now this is not my upward growth problem
