Spawning Straight Cow Manure Outdoors

I just spawned about 4 quarts of colonized WBS to some cow manure that i got from a pasture near my house. I just wetted the broken up patties and stirred them up real good to get a nice fluffy, soil like manure mix. Then i added the colonized WBS. I didn't mix any straw or anything w/ it just the poo and the spawn. The poo was fairly fiberous, and looked real good. Will it fruit and be ok without the straw? I wouldn't see why not, but i just wondered.
I dug about an 8 inch deep hole and filled it w/ the spawn/poo. I then covered it with some potting soil and leaves. I also watered it a little. Hopefully this turns out good.

it works for the cows, it would have been better to follow a tek but you can always hope for the best, without pasturizing it you're likely to fail

Should work, Im doing similiar but with store bought manure that I hydrate and im not bothering digging holes just building upon the ground or using natural indentations.
Expect to wait atleast 2 weeks for fruits, perhaps more with the temps and good luck to you!

I think i remember diver and someone else not doing anything to straight horse poo and it is fruiting. They talked about it in a thread somewhere.

That was Sterile and I talking in my C. Comatus thread. After I tossed some C. Comatus spawn to unpasteurized/unsterilized horse poo and it turned out ok, I started doing it with cubensis. As it stands now, I'm not pasteurizing any more damn horse poo until I find a reason to.

SO what it comes down to is I should be fine, and i could see fruits in 2 to 3 weeks? The temps here are about 70-80 during day, and 55-65 at night.
ShroomOmatic- how long ago did you spawn to your outdoor manure bed?
Diver- Do you spawn to unpasturized/ unsteralized horse poo indoors? just curious if that works out ok for you?

You'll see fruits if: The potting soil colonizes correctly, and you can maintain humidity with that "leaf" setup. Personally, for an outdoor grow, I'd go with a peat based casing layer, put it in the ground in a shaded area, and use something like rye grass to keep humidity. You'll probably need to keep a close eye and water the daylights out of this patch.

if you didnt use straw this is probably nonsense. ever see cow shit get crazy mold while its sitting in the field? from my understanding its the straw that likes to contaminate.
next time i do h/poo i'm going to do a small batch without any sterilization/pasteurization. if it can sit in my yard and be 100% fine, why cant i toss some mycelium in there and have it still be fine?

He remains this way for about three hours, making bizarre noises, pretending to be a new species that must learn to walk and talk and eat, etc. And he communicates with other life forms by way of the antennae on his head. Eventually we jam a tube from a waterbong into it's mouth and figure he's learned all he needs to know.

you think watering it 3 times a week would be sufficient? That's assuming it is still raining a little now and then. Maybe if it doest rain water it 4 times?
Would it help if i added a thin layer of straw to the top like .5-1 inch? I know straw holds in humidity while growing grass. I think ill go add some straw to the patches tomorrow, maybe soak it in water for awhile to make sure it's nice and moist when i put it down.
If everything goes decently smooth should i see fruits in 2 weeks?
