how large is your substrate bed???
    #4136974 - 05/05/05 09:50 AM (18 years, 11 months ago)

I know in general the larger the substrate bed the more prolific flush. Question, When does it become to big? I was originally thinking a 6 inch depth by 18x18x36. Possible problems with contams?would 18x18x18 be a better bet?

I have done some big ass ones in huge mortor mix tubs. But, they end up weighing around 90 lbs & are tough to move.

My preferance is either 12 or 16 quart trays.

Ummm, sorry but how can you have 6inch depth by 18*18*18 or 6inch depth 18*18*36??? 4th Dimension......

I'm guessing you mean either 6*18*18 or 6*18*36.  IMO two casings 18*18 are better - take the same amount of space as the 18*36 but if one contams you still have the other.

The 4th dimension is time hehe. They can get heavy fast as you get bigger as Agar said, especially if you go 6inches deep. 12qt trays are nice and don't weigh too much.

I like the 3 gal rubbermaid size...4" to 6" deep with substrate.

$1 store...dish washing pans are great too.
