I heard this is some good rock.
Is there a cd I should listen to first? One that is most easy to get into?

In the Court of the Crimson King Red
These seem to be the 2 popular releases. Also, check out my friend's band. They are deeply inspired by King Crimson, so he says...

Start with the first album, ITKOTCK
Then try disipline or red. Then beat. Then one of the newest things.
I dunno. Maybe just type king crimson into a file sharing and get what you want.
Remember the band changes sounds a lot, so if you hate one album, you might still like another one.
And the song Moonchild is the worst piece of crap shit song ever do not download that one.

I'm downloading "In The Court..." right now.
I'll make sure not to download Moonchild.

Yea forreal. If you really don't like the first couple songs you hear, don't give up. Because they are extremely diverse. Personally I find alot of their songs to be straight up annoying. But then there's some that are quite blissful and nice.

Moonchild is a good song damnit, a nice somber dirge. I recommend anything off the album 'Thrak'.
some of my favorite songs by them are:
People Into the frying pan Dinosaur Prozak blues VROOM (all of them) Happy with what you have to be happy with (fucking amazing chorus) Frakctured The world is my oyster soup kitchen floor wax museum three of a perfect pair (acoustic version)

Great band. "In the Court of the Crimson King" is a good one for sure (especially 21st Century Schizoid Man) but for tripping it's tough to beat the "Lark's Tongues in Aspic" album.
I saw them play that live while under the influence of a headful of some extremely righteous acid (Orange Double Barrel if I recall correctly) back in the early Seventies and I have to say it was one of my favorite concerts.
I echo the sentiment about their diversity -- I don't think there's a single album of theirs where I like every cut. But when they are good there's few better.

My recommendation would be for you to hear first "Fallen angel", great song from the "red" album, my favourite yet.

yes it is. as others have said, the court of king crimson is THE album to get. I saw them open for Tool and I was blown away by how good they were. especially their bass player, jesus his hands were constantly going up and down the fret board with hammer ons and pull offs. on a bass guitar!
-------------------- Annnnnnd I had a light saber and my friend was there and I said "you look like an indian" and he said "you look like satan" and he found a stick and a rock and he named the rock ooga booga and he named the stick Stick and we both thought that was pretty funny. We got eaten alive by mosquitos but didn't notice til the next day. I stepped on some glass while wading in the swamp and cut my foot open, didn't bother me til the next day either....yeah it was a good time, ended the night by buying some liquor for minors and drinking nips and going to he diner and eating chicken fingers, and then I went home and went to bed.

i recently listened the in the court album.. imo the epipath is best tune from it from what ive listened but i might change opinion when i listen more to the album, actually i didnt find the music that spectacular like most of the oldies (prolly cause i listen to psy/goa all the time) but the "vibe" it has is impressive considering its so old.. like from 60s or something.
