New Porcupine Tree.  I saw it at the record store where I went to buy a new pipe for work and I bought it.  It is very good.  Possibly better then Tool and Dream Theater and Radiohead.  Definately at that level.  Check it out!

Porcupine Tree fucking rocks.  I love those guys.  I've got about 7-8 albums and love everyone of them.  I even found one of their records (Stupid Dream)  at a used CD store for 6 bucks, and its out of print now and sells for 60-100 bucks.  I won't be selling it though.

And yes, their new album is great.  Its got Akerfeld from Opeth playing acoustic guitar and doing backup vocals.

Highly recommended.  :stoned: :stoned:

Hmm, I liked In Abesntia a whole lot, I'll definitely have to check out the new one now though.

This one might be a little better then In Absentia. In Absentia is about a serial killer. This one is about a being haunted by ghosts. It's a tad heavy in places, which is cool if you like that part of it.

It's crazy how insane this guy is. He takes some harmless beach boys ish vocals and sings about the people buried underneath his bed.

This guys band got started when he attributed it as an early influence and he was just fucking around and made a bunch of songs. He said it was a psychedelic LSD progrock band from the seventies. Wrote some songs and then they got released. Been putting out amazing shit ever since.

Definately check out Voyage 34, an account of an LSD experience in a clinical (good) setting.

What makes porcupine tree so good is the way they capture deranged thoughts so beautifully. It's like they see the beauty that must intoxicate crazies and tap into that. Blackest eyes does a great job of this. So does this entire CD. Another strength is the huge variety of moods and different sounds they have mastered. Another strength is Steve Wilsons Genious production. The biggest weakness is probably the lyrical content. Not that the lyrical content is bad, but compared to the stellar music, it doesn't seem as brilliant.

This band is too good to not break out soon. But are they too good for the mainstream? Maybe. Be sure to check out the latest album it's so good. There is music being made today as good as anything from the sixties or seventies, it's just too good to be popular.
