Water boiling in a pot will only reach 212?F, but at 15 pounds of pressure (PSI) water temp raises to 250?F and will get your substrate much, much hotter; killing the bacteria that might otherwise be unharmed by regular boiling temperatures.

In other words, get one!

I got mine from a family member, you can get them at walmart for 20$, no reason not too.

Good luck!

ahh... interesting. but Earths atmosphere is 14.7/psi, but i guess in a pot of boiling water the pressure would drop.

should i give it a go anyway? hawk had a freebie sale going on

Isn't "freebie sale" an oxymoron?

Anything's worth a try, but IMO 20$ is worth piece of mind...

I agree with you onetime; no offense meant to pleco though.

If you're going to do it, don't skimp out, you can get started in this hobby for less then 50$, and think of the benefits...

Try ordering online. I don't know what you are doing, but people have gotten a PC for some stealth closet grow for about $35 shipped.
Tried http://pricegrabber.com ?

yeah man, i got a 12qt $100 pressure cooker/canner (mirro) on ebay for $40 including shipping (expect a lot on shipping, they're heavy....the auction ended at 20-something, but shipping made it nearly twice as expensive)

anyway, they're expensive, but i would imagine worth it, if not for the sake of experimentation and firsthand learning then for the simple fact that you can use better substrates than just brown rice flour......

look at some of the grow logs and compare casings to cakes; even if they're exactly the same potency yield alone will tell you that the pressure cooker could EASILY pay for itself if you're down for something like that...

It can be done without a PC:
