Question about the dry vermiculite layer?
    #4094894 - 04/25/05 11:32 AM (18 years, 10 months ago)

hey, i just started sterilizing my first jars last night!!!!!! so i sealed my jars and everything but like an idiot, i forgot to put tin foil over the jars before pc'ing :frown:. will i be ok to inoculate today or should i just start over? what happens if the dry verm layer gets wet? will it invite contaminates, or will it still do its job? thanks for taking the time to read this guys, & sorry for the newbie question :mushroom2:

Keep going, I think you'll be ok. In the past I had the dry layer get pretty soaked for various reasons and it never presented a problem for me. Don't put tape or foil over it for incubation, and it will dry out a decent bit from the evaporation through your holes.
