Misting a poo casing after 1st flush

    So I've been searching about dunking poo casings...apparently this is unnecessary, misting is all right.  I was wondering how you go about misting a poo casing between flushes?  Saturate the casing layer and let it trickle down into the substrate? 
    foafy has a Misty Mate (thanks, Scatmanrav) that can be used to mist the casings...so leave the original casing layer on, patch any holes, and then mist it very well and that is fine for poo casings?

Clean off any aborts, if substrate has pulled away from the container walls, add casing material into voids, patch top & mist.

You want to mist a lot, but not all at once. Little applications OFTEN, to replace the moisture lost from the first flush.

After the first flush, if the substrate has pulled far away from the tray walls, I over hydrate (almost soogy) the casing mix I fill the void with, to replenish moisture.

Ever had any problems with contamination caused by over-hydration through misting between flushes?

I don't know if you use trays. But, if you do..... weigh it prior to harvest. Then, weigh it again after harvest. That will give you the approximate water weight the substrate lost. You should try to replace about 70% +.

But, do it slow, in multiple applications over a few days. So, the substrate can re-absorb it - without getting soggy - wet feet or going into shock from excess drenching.

Excess drenching will cause bacterial type slime contamination on the bottom of the substrate, causing it to stall by the reverse of overlay = UNDERLAY.
