tenn stud pre past substrate or 50/50 sub?

which would u recomend, the standard pre-pasturized substrate from tennesse stud or their 50/50 pre-pasturized sub? also, if using just the standard pre-past. sub.(or the 50/50 or either) could i soak some of that in water to get nutes in the water and use that water to dunk cakes, or would that not be good? also i was wondering if u need to have a casing layer with horse poo? i thought i saw someone once say its not necesary. is a casing layer with horse poo that much better than without one? btw, check out the sponsers forum to see tenn studs april buy 2 get 1 free deal.

i prefer the 50/50 but i may be losing out on nutes.
dont dunk the poo. least i wouldnt
you dont need a casing layer but it will greatly improve your yield IMO
and tennesee stud rocks

Straight hpoo works fine mixed with verm..theres already straw in it..
At this point though, since they are running a special for shroomery members on buy 2 get 1 free (5 pound bags) of pre pasteurized 50/50, I'd go with that.
You shouldnt dunk or try to add nutes except prior to PCing and colonization. Dunking cakes or casings after colonized will lead to contamination.

All that? A 5 pound bag is a casing...buy up a couple and make a few casings.
Pre pasteurized wont last, you'd need to get the dry unpasteurized stuff, and do it yourself as you need it.
You could order some dry stuff..and 3 bags of 50/50 pre pasteurized (to get the 2 for 1 deal) to start you off...or you can just get the dry stuff and pasteurize it yourself...just need some bags, a big pot, and a themometer.

A casing could be two things....the stuff you put on top of the substrate...or the substrate and casing layer..once you put it on top. Thats what I meant when I said a 5 lb bag will make 1 casing...its enough substrate to do a decent small bulk tub casing. You'd still need to apply the casing layer to the h poo (after spawning it, you know you need spawn like grain right?) though...
And you can crumble cakes, and case them.

yea im planning on following road kills horse poo tek. basically gonna crumble a colonized pf cake into a bunch of horse poo and into a small bulk tub. once that gets totally colonized i was gonna put a verm/coir mix on top, or mb peat moss if i can get the ph testing thing happening for myself. but u aren't suggesting putting uncolonized tenn ted pasturized 50/50 on top of the colonized substrate right?

Correct. I'm suggesting, doing what your planning...mix the 50/50 with a cake, once colonized, case with peat/verm (often called 50/50 or 50/50+, dont get confused!) or coir/verm...

well you guys just confused the fuck out of me!
You should mix your 50/50 Tenn Stud mix (i just got 15lb) with your fully colonized substrate (I got WBS, you got BRF cakes ; Tom, Dick, and Harry use Rye, or popcorn). Mix evenly, then wait for this to fully colonize. Next you should add your 50/50+ non-nutritous casing layer (peat, verm, and crushed oyster; ect.) This is called 'Simple 50/50 Tenn Stud Tek'

The confusion was from me reading both of your posts, very quickly. This is the biggest problem on this board. My confusion was MY fault! I just thought, for anyone trying to follow what you both were saying, that i would completely spell it out.
I (and I'm sure a lot of people) will read every word, but not soak up the information, especially if the answers are in multiply posts.
