casing material

What would be the best material and technique for casing mycelium grown on brown rice in one quart jars? Also, should the casing material be wet or dry?

Case with vermiculite or coco fiber. It should be moist but not soaked. Look in Grow/find for techniques. Most commonly recommended is a substrate layer of 2" and a casing layer of 1/2". When I used aluminum loaf pans, one quart jar 3/4 full filled the pan to 2" then I added 1/2" of coco fiber that I soaked in water and then squeezed to remove excess moisture.
Then again I don't have any shrooms yet either so feel free to call me an idiot and move on to the advice of those who are more experienced.
Good Luck!

Swing the groove 'round here, so I can reach it -a.d.

Peat moss 50/50 with verm gives the mycelium extra nutrients for fruiting - cow dung and coco fiber are even better !!
