Hey peeps, I'm looking at buying a hotplate for PC'ing and pasteurization, and came across this double burner one:
I really don't know much about hotplates and the seller hasn't responded to my message I sent him. Does anyone know if this will work for my indended use? $20 to my door would be a great deal if it'd work. The description says "I got a nice rare find here, older double burner electric hotplate. Both burners have low, med, and high heat. Very clean and like new condition, works great." Don't know if that'd help anyone. Thanx in advance guys, and keep up the good work

Now..I cant say for sure since I havnt tried that particular one..but it seems just like the cheapo cheapos. What you want is a Lab hot plate (thermolyne ect).
Actual temp settings on it. Thats a Thermolyne 1900...nice model found cheap on ebay often. Goes up to 300 degrees C. Throw a 20 gallon trash can (sealed inside and out with silicone) on top of that baby with this much water (or a little more):
Get all four burners of your stove cooking up water:
And dump it all in..add boiling/hot tap water and it takes less then an hour to get 15 gallons of water or so to just the right temp:

Thanx scat, I was worried that it'd be a cheapo, cuz I've seen some of the hotplates that people use on here, and it doensn't look anything like them. I'm thinking that maybe its one used for cooking and shit, not really high temps. I'll look into a lab oriented hotplate then....

I think I wound up with my plate to my door for about 45 bucks or so..well worth the extra bucks IMO. I probably couldve gotten a better deal too if I had bothered to shop, it was just a buy it now.
