one of my db kits has fruit flies in it. It was just starting the pinning process. Do i have to pitch it or what?i looked up some info on a search and it wasnt very clear.

Damn, those fruit flies.I never got them in my kit, but after I started working with dung based substrates, I noticed them in my house. I used the fly traps around the house, but I don't know what to do inside the kit. Good luck.

I was only half-serious...though it might not be a bad idea. I've seen preying mantis eggs at several nurseries. The reason it might actually work is the moisture and temperature of a casing system is likely good enough to get them to hatch.

The downer is that they really like to eat each other first.

Once flies get into a casing, they're pretty much there for good. The cicads especially...the ones that look like they're part-mosquito ...like to hang out under the surface.

Go outside and find a spider and put him in the tank, that will do the trick
