My Portabella Kit Pics Two Points To Consider
    #3937268 - 03/18/05 06:58 PM (19 years, 5 days ago)

I am just so proud of my kit. I had to purchase this So i could get a button culture from it.
#1.Notice how there is no mycelium on the top part of the casing. The mushrooms are pushing through it. There is no overlay. Just how Paul likes it.
#2 the question of growing 2 different cubes on one cake has been asked many times here and people say that one of the 2 strains will take over and fruit. Well this kit is one big lump of compost, one side inoculated with button and the other with ports. As you can see they are both fruiting on their seperate sides. Cakes will doo the same.
Ports

buttons

The whole thing. button on the left, ports on the right

the only difference between the 2 types is that one was developed for a color characteristic, the taste will be very similar if not the same.

Is the sub. mixed?

That pics you put up really proves nothing.

It was said that if you Knock Up the same jar of cubes...

You clearly have two subs merely in the same box...

In that first pic you posted, were the subs mixed together, or is the port sub. on one side and the button sub on the other? :smirk:

I'ma do buttons soon

-Gnostic

And pris...What will happen when they mature?...

the sub is not mixed, just like a cake would not be mixed becasue you couldnt mix it. Its one big block of compost, 1/2 had button spawn added to it and the other had ports. The compost wasnt all mixed up afterwards. They were left to colonize there own sides but each other could cross over. Just like a cake that was knocked up with mycel or spores.
