 Raising Temperature

I have a Tupperware container as my growing chamber. The temperature inside the growing chamber stays static around 73-75. I was wondering what an easy and cost-efficient way of raising that temperature to around 80-85 would be. If I were to use a heating pad under my vermiculite bottom layer, would that harm the babies in any way? If it does, what are other options in the matter?

A heating pad may dry out the vermiculite layer slightly over a decent amount of time but other than that it will heat up your tupperware container just fine.

i use a heater fan thing in my room...it's like a sauna in here, although i don't have a thermometer, so i couldn't tell ya how hot i have it..seems to be doin the trick though my shrooms are exploding out of their casings..only problem is it's realy hot in here, i sweat just sitting in here.

I wouldnt have the heater on without knowing the temperature if i was you. You will have amazing growth until the core temperature gets to high and promotes bacterial growth. Also if it feels like a sauna remember that thermal death of mycelium starts at 106 Fahrenheit ....

80-85? Wtf for? Bro yo want 75 max.
Once my pins are set, I drop temp to 68 to promote weight and size.
Your shit will have many pin issues and contams at 80 I bet. That's too hot homie.

Leave it... 73-75 is a relatively ideal temperature. 80-85 will slow down mycelium growth and promote contamination growth. So unless you are doing an experiment just to see what happens, don’t do it.

20 years ago people thought cubes grew best in the low to mid 80s. Now it is believed cubes grow best in the high 60s to low 70s. We assume that we were just mistaken in the past, but I ask you this: Have we really changed, or have the cubes changed? I posit that the cubes themselves have changed- maybe cubes really did prefer warmer temperature 20 years ago, and their preferences have changed since then. I further hypothesize that cubes temperature preference will decrease even further, falling into the low 40's by 2050. Just as we change our fashion, so do the cubes change there temperature. Nah I'm just kidding, I'm sorry to have wasted anyone's time who read this.

I think the difference is people realized growing mycelium in a petri dish is a bit different than growing it in a real substrate where significant amounts of heat is being produced. The substrate temperature is going to be higher than the room temperature. Not to mention seeing the problems that can go along with artificially heating a substrate. So it's mostly the preference of the cultivators that has changed not the fungus. In theory though there are probably minor differences in optimal growing temperature between isolated strains.
