Mixed up moldy casing shrooms with good shrooms...

Idiotically, my kitten mixed some shrooms she had plucked from a contamed casing (very dark, inky contam on the bottom) with some shrooms that came from healthy casings. They went through the dehydrator and everything and her buddy furthered the blunder by combining all the shrooms in the same container.

Big problem...now kitten doesn't know which shrooms are fine and which came from the contamed casing.

So she knows that eating shrooms from moldy can be dangerous (can it?) and that it wouldn't be responsible of her to feed her friends shrooms from that container. But at the same time she is reluctant to throw out many weeks of hard work...

Just how dangerous are shrooms that come from moldy (inky blackish mold) casings?

An inquiring mind wants to know so she can do the right thing.

From what I understand, black mold is possibly poisonus, even deadly.

I would toss all of em. I know it would suck to loose alot of good ones due to a few bad ones, but the health risks outweigh the benefits. IMO anyway.

The kitten agrees...tonight, she threw out many, many shrooms. 

It's sad, but she's excited to rebuild and will be more careful in the future.

Better safe than sorry.

I feel bad for you. I've had to throw out moldy ones more than once due to lazyness.

Just count it as a lesson learned  :tongue:
