Fanning

I've been looking around shroomery and I havn't found much info on fanning, unless I didn't look in the right stop.

Well, I was wonder, I'm going 4 cakes w/ 2 1/2pint in each casing.

When fanning, how long do you do it for?
Also, I heard some people use the lid of there incubator or there chamber and give it a couple of wirls. Is using a fan ok? Should I clean it to take off the lent all built up on it?

Thanks for the advice.

Cray

Yes, that's essentially what you do. It takes like 10 seconds to do a full air exchange.

Unnecessary when you are doing manual fanning.

Thanks Anno! btw, liked your artical on the watering tech. in the Casing Archive.

Since your here, got a couple of questions...

I was doing some reading and I was told not to use perlite with casing. Is this true? I read that the humitity should be 70-80%.

Also when misting/watering. should you take it out of the incubator and spray it, or spray it with it all there in the chamber.

95-100% before pins show up, 85-90% after that.

or ~90-95% throughout the cycle works also, but the first one works even better.

How do you lower the humidity? Just take out some perlite?

Well, you can lower it by having less evaporation surface or more frequent air exchange.

"less evaporation surface"

What do you mean?

So I guess taking some perlite out would be useless.
