I've heard of people taking Dramamine. But I just can't see this as a good idea. Fast for a few days, slam the brew, concentrate on something else for an hour or so. Nausea is something most ayahuascanauts have to deal with.

Shaman view the purging aspect as essential and important the ayahuasca experience.I would advise against using anti-naseau pills in general. They may also not work anyways.

Learn to think of the purging as cathartic, or cleansing.
If you have trouble keeping the brew down long enough maybe smoke some bud on the comeup but only enough for the nausea to subside, you don't want to cloud the experience.

I don't know about smoking some weed, it can backfire sometimes and make it worse. Extracting the rue is a good idea to reduce nausea, but I'm still looking for ways to make the mimosa a lil more palitable.

you need to vomit - probably not best to actually digest all that plant material. keeping it in you will probably make you feel worse (and risk making your trip uncomfortable).

The purge feels great..fighting it sucks. You have to keep it down long enough for the goods to absorb..so, you've got to resist as long as you can. But, once it gets to be too much, just let it go..and it will feel great. To minimize the nastyness...don't put in Too much lemon juice, or vitamin c or whatever you're using to acidify the tea. That stuff stays in the mixture and gets concentrated along with the drugs..which can strongly affect the taste. Also, take your time...people who know how to make ayahuasca traditionally do so slowly, over an entire day, on low heat. After you have done your initial extracts, filter the end product as finely as possible to minimize the plant material you drink.

i used to always have problems with nausea until i started using the fridge decant method. though there is still some nausea present, it isn't nearly as bad as before. all the pulp and fine particles are what are believed to cause most of the nausea. remove them and it's not as much of an issue. though i completely agree, the purge is a cleansing part of the experience.
though if you're not familiar with the fridge decant method, i guess i can run through it. it's actually very simple to perform and like i said, i greatly reduces nausea. after you filtered your brewed tea, place in a closed container (a plastic 20 oz. bottle is fine) in your refrigerator for a day or two. then set up a funnel with cotton balls stuck in spout. filter through cotton balls twice. but make sure to press out all the valuable liquid absorbed in it's fibers. then place back in the fridge for another day or so and repeat. i find that 2 decants is all that's necessary but if you feel the need to do more, by all means. this should take care of most of the nausea. it works for me, but everyone is different.

I never had aya but when doing a dmt extraction you can see the nasty sludge that is like mud/clay when you're filtering your liquids. I wouldn't want to have that in my stomach! I discussed this with Phobey and we thought the nausea could be reduced by properly filtering the solution.

So theoretically, it would be best to let the dmt containing mixture to settle after filtering, and then pour off the liquid? Sounds good to me, because even when filtered through cloth, it seems as if the sap and smaller fibers still manage to settle at the bottom. If the liquid still has goodies in without wasting it, I'll do this from now on!

a lot passes through the filter after the inital cooking. a fridge decant will show you just how much actually passed through. i consider it absolutely essential for extractions.

dumb question - but how do you set up such a funnel with a 20oz bottle?

i'm not speaking of a separatory funnel, just your basic funnel. the kind used to put oil in a car i guess. just pour the contents of your 20 oz bottle through funnel with cotton balls as your filter. place the funnel over a glass or something. all the sediment which has fallen to the bottom of your 20 oz, from the decant, clumps toghether and is caught in the cotton filter.
