Store bought portabelas

I really like portebella mushrooms, but they cost about $2 a peice. I was curious if you could just buy them off the shelf at H.E.B and make them grow, even if they've been refregerated, and handled.

well, the success rate is pretty low from supermarket stuff I believe, which is just how they want it. Portabellos are hard for beginners to grow, so maybe you should start with something else before getting there? They basically require both a grain substrate step and then need to be grown on compost.

Clone a baby bella or crimini, they are young portabellas.
