I work at a callcenter and this old lady called up asking if she had any outstanding debts (She had just returned from a year at the hospital and she just recovered from cancer). She did have open debts but they were already there since 2000.
So I spoke to my supervisor to ask what we could do for her. I was allowed to remove them..
I wrapped up the call and muted the phone, she tought I was gone and started crying and told the person with her how I helped her remove the debt. It made her very happy..
And it made me happy as well..

call center jobs are hard work....im doing help dessk/software support right now. it can really stress me out when i have an asshole on the other end of the line who is clueless about basic PC knowledge or are demanding that i fix a mess that they created themselves.
but i always love to hear things like "ive called 2 other places and talked to 3 other agents at this number and you are by far the most helpful person ive talked to."
that makes me feel pretty good.

I have an unsatisfying job (for the time being) and it makes me happy when I actually deal with nice people. Working in a deli I get people who won't even acknowledge a "hello" or people who think they should be waited on hand-and-foot. (most people are OK, no comlaints) It's great when somebody is friendly. There are times when I have to go out of my way to fulfill their requests and I like it when they show they appreciation by thanking me-- instead of acting like it's owed to them because they're the customer.
I wonder if the parents notice when I'm checking out their hot 16 year old daughters... what can I say? I'm a college student and I'm a man

I tried working for the public years ago. I soon realized that my temperment was not meant to deal with stupid, rude people. I worked 1 day at Subway, in the back cutting up stuff. I could hear what the poeple working up front had to deal with.
I worked that day and gave the manager my cap and apron. Told him I'd better quit now B4 you have to fire me.
I have been working in some factory ever since.
Factory work SUCKS ASS.
