 Storage of Colonised cakes

I want to hear your experiences with storing, voluntarily or involuntarily, fully colonised cakes in their jars before birthing, with any noticeable effects or differences from using freshly colonised cakes.
By storing i mean even just leaving the cakes in a dark cupboard.
Also, any accurate information on loss of nutrition/moisture/potency etc.

Store them for many months in the fridge. Up to a year.

Yeah i heard that was possible.
The thing is, I have had a number of colonised jars sitting in a dark cupboard for 4 weeks since they finnished colonising, and i recently birthed them.
I want to know of peoples experience with this type of thing, and any noticeable effects in doing so.

if i have jars sitting to long and the cakes noticably shink, i just inject a nutrient rich water into them.

i left a fully colonised B+ cake for abouit a month and it pretty much managed to dry out.

Just wondering what you use for nutirents in the water.
I ahve been trying honey water and weight gainer diluted in water still waiting for the next flush to see if either works.

You might want to try some sort of rejuvination, ie. dunking, on those cakes.

Please post your results with"honey water and weight gainer diluted in water'
and also amount and frequency. I will keep an eye for your posts.
Thanks alot. I don't know if you remember.. I posted about 2 weeks ago asking about
injecting water into cakes.You helped me. Well my cambodian cakes flushed 3 x. And 1 is going on
4x. Just water, no honey but I may try to push the other ones with some.

Patzee,
the update so far is this. one cake (1/4 pint) was blue on 1 half and browning lightly on the other. I injected with honey water. I filled the 2" straw all the way up and let it drain over night. Did the same thing the next day. Today i just put some plain water to fill it up (it did not take in all the honey water form the previous day). after checking on the cake today. it has gone from blue/light brown to light brown(on the blue side) and bright white and fluffy on the other side. and there are 3 pins starting. i will let you know if contams set in and how the flush goes for this. on the 1/2 pint ones i ahve not noticed a difference yet. the weight gainer ones i just did a day or so ago so and they are 1/2 pint so i will post how erevry thing comes out some time next week.

Ive noticed that some cakes develope "matting" when left colonizing too long which leads to very little pins if any and a foul smelling cake that's just my grimlin's experience with "overcolonized" cakes
solution: scaping the surface with steralized fork
