Quick Casing Question
    #3803082 - 02/19/05 11:32 AM (19 years, 1 month ago)

If I've already used my PF style jars to produce a flush, can I still break them up and use them to make a casing like in Casing 101, or am I stuck dunking and flushing them as is?
I ask because I've got a few jars (actually they're quarter pint jars, I haven't found half pinters yet) that are ready for birthing. I'd like to go with the Casing 101 method, but only three of my jars made it this far. I've got a couple new jars that look promising, but they're gonna take another week or so. I'd like to go ahead and get a flush from the jars that are ready, then use them to make the casing at a later date. Can this be done?

if you're gonna save some jars to use as casing at a later date, jus throw em in the fridge.

Your colonized jars will stay good hypothetically for a couple monthes, but its not ideal to keep them in there that long. Think of them like eggs, they stay fresh a log time because they are still alive though "dormant." I think what you have in mind is a great idea, casing them will help you get the most out of the cakes.

"There is a world beyond ours, a world that is far away, nearby, and invisible. And there is where God lives, where the dead live, the spirits and the saints, a world where everything has already happened and everything is known. That world talks. It has a language of its own. I report what it says. The sacred mushroom takes me by the hand and brings me to the world where everything is known. It is they, the sacred mushrooms, that speak in a way I can understand. I ask them and they answer me. When I return from the trip that I have taken with them, I tell what they have told me and what they have shown me."

Thanks, guys. I had no idea jars could be stored in the fridge like that.
