birthed jars not pinning, help!
    #376279 - 08/22/01 08:51 AM (22 years, 6 months ago)

I just birthed 4 jars 2 days ago, the first one I birthed that I could see a pin on it, now has a big ass mushroom, probably like 4 inches long, and cap almost fully developed, but the ones i birthed yesterday didnt have pins on them, nor are they forming them, the one mushroom I have that is growing right now, has fuzzy mycelium up the stem, if that helps find the problems. The one that had the pin on it when I birthed it, now has medium sized bumps of mycelium on it. I dont know what that means though, is that a pre-pin? Help me!!!

Why'd you birth it before pin formation? I'm hardly an expert but from what I've read it is best to wait until pin formation, but then to wait one more week before birthing. This apprently increases fruiting, but this may differ depending on whether or not you are going to case the cakes or let them go on their own.. good luck.

Time, my friend, time will heal all wounds and bring up pins.
5-15 days after birthing is the timeframe.

I agree with anno, my golden taecher friend! It might take as long as three weeks (usually less) for the conditions to turn correct for pinning - try to keep the c02 a little higher to start pinning ...good luck! Those little bumps sound like pinning has already begun!

yeah.... wait a little longer.... thats all it will take..... most of all the most important ingredient in growing isn't your substrate or tech, but rather patience and time. later

cool well my one cake that i birthed that had one tiny primordia pin on it, the shroom is now like 5 inches long, hehe, and veil should be breaking in another day or two, but all the other cakes are just really bumpy right now, but the bumps are getting more pronounced, etc, so I will let time heal it, one more question, should I be fanning it 3-4 times a day? how much? can you overfan? thanks.

you can't really overfan, that is AS LONG AS you keep the humidity up. 3-4 times a day is great though.... not too much.... not too little. Have fun.
