I found these today in southern oregon in some decaying leaves and bark. The picture makes the stalk look more white. It has a more orange color in real life than the photo.  :stoned:Thanks

You need a description, and take a spore print

The cap is sweetly fragrant, cap is orange sunken, with gills descending. Yellow orange stalk and buff gills. spore print was white from a young mushroom.

Kind of looks like some sort of Pleurotus, but its hard to tell. maybe a better picture of the cap would help out.

but I don't think its active, whatever it is.

Probably a Clitocybe. Although several Clitocybe species are edible, many contain muscarine, a toxin that is rarely lethal but very unpleasant.

Happy mushrooming!

I thought it might be a Clitocybe, but the cap was much more convex than any I've ever seen.

you're probobly absolutely right, but thats the first thing I noticed, especially since no habitat was given.

My first thought was Hygrophorus, and the white spore print confirms that this is a possibility. Of coarse Clitocybe and Pleurotus also have white spores, but they don't look much like Oysters to me, and the gills are much broader than I have seen on clitocybes. The stem also reminds me of Hygrophorus; you should be able to separate it into stands like string cheese.

Whatever they are, they should not be eaten.

Nice finds pxsxmx

I should have put it in my post, but Hygrophorus would be the obvious other choice. Good of you to mention it, shroomydan.

Happy mushrooming!
