I made a little trip to the hollywood area today to check out the gallery for this artist dude, workhorse.
We were strolling around and ran into ther Elliot Smith Memorial Wall. It was pretty intense. If you guys have seen the album, Figure 8... it's the wall/art he was standing in front of.. that black/red/white swooshy thing. That's still there... but there's like hundreds of things written and sprayed all over it in tribue to elliot smith. There were a bunch of dead flower stems as well scattered all around the sidewalk in front of it.
The kid I was hangin' out with who was with me is a huge Elliot fan and has been listening to him for years... the music got him through some tough times. I just got into him about 6 months and his music's really been growing on me.
It was a pretty intense thing to be standing there. Just staring at it, standing there... I've felt more human that I have in a long time.
Quite and inspirational day it twas... :P

Ja. My bud and I are working on a couple 5-6 layer stencils right now. We're gonna spray these on the sidewalk in front of it in the next couple of days. We'll take some pictures when we're done.

I remember finding out he took his life, that was a pretty shit day after that. It's bizarre how he ended his life by stabbing himself in the chest.

I didn't take these pics. This looks a little old... probably a year or so ago...
It looks a bit different now. The "You FUCKING COWARD" was removed as well as the pink shit in the middle with the syringes. There's a bit more on it now... including a couple one-layer stencils. There isn't anything left on the sidewalk other than the dead, dried up stems from the flowers.
I'll take some more recent pics when we go down there again this week.

Probably. Between my friends, my clients, and my parents... I drive all over LA/OC regularly... which is cool... If I'm on the road during rush hour, I usually stop where I'm at and chill out while traffic dies down... which usually ends up being Hollywood.
I'll probably be cutting through LA on the way to my parents place. If we don't get these stencils up this week, we'll probably do them up there this weekend.
