Pulling a shroom kind of shocks the mycelial network, and can even invite infection. Also, you'll notice alot of times there are baby pins that come up with a shroom when you pull it, if cut with scissors, those pins would continue to develope. Always try to harvest with scissors, its a good practice, this is especially true with species like weilii, it really effects fruiting when you pull them, its not so hard on the coprophilic species, but it puts a hurting on the lignicolus species.

Gumby cut with scissors.
Try not to Touch the cowshit at all. Just touch the Fungus with one hand and a clean cut from the scissors with the other.
lol. I dont know about you, but Id rather not eat the CowShit. If you just go around yanking mushrooms and collecting them in your bag then its just a damn mess. The caps smear with the cowshit leftover dangleing, [christ]I wont even mention getting Sand in the Gills. Nawman, Alls i want in my bag is slipper sticky clean shroom. None of that cowcrap.
and also like the lizard king mentioned, it actually improves the mycelial life of a cowturd being clipped with scissors as apposed to yanking the shitout of it all into a mess and pieces =)
and then of course when you leave a good inch leftover on the wild shroom then the stem will sometimes continue growing for a couples days after that,,and come back to the same cowturd but with twice as many cubes on it, and then also a big fat grown out stem..
