Dream Journal
    #3715428 - 02/01/05 07:32 PM (19 years, 1 month ago)

Does anyone here keep a dream journal? I came across mine just a minute ago, last entry was a few months ago, totally forgot about it. It was a really good laugh. Some of the shit in there was just so crazy, alot of them I don't even really remember. I started keeping it because I read that doing so increased the chance of having a lucid dream. I've had one before, and I really wanted to have another one. Unfortunately, it never happened, :frown: but I'm going to start it up again and see how it goes. Also, does anyone have any tips on increasing the chances of a lucid dream?

I keep a dream diary. just continue and analyze your dreams, looking for common patterns in the dreams, like a various figure, a symbol or anything like that. this will make you aware your in a dream once you see it again.

also during the day, keep doing "reality checks". pull your fingers and see if they stretch, jump to see if you can stay in the air any longer. while incorporating these in your daily life, you will learn to do it also in dreams, which can help you become lucid. but what i'm talkin about is not reality check once a day, try to do it as much as possible.

you can also try waking up like 3/4 a.m in the morning. wonder around a bit and then go to bed again. the chances of you having a lucid dream will increase.

Good advice. I like to meditate before sleep. During meditation I look for my inner desire for a dream and focus on it. It is pretty easy at this point but I still have problems remembering what really happened and what I have dreamed. It's all too real to distinguish.

Seems intresting, can't beat the price either, I'll have to give it a read.

I kept a dream diary and updated it pretty regularly for about a year or so.. haven't written or even read pieces from it in a while but I am pretty sure it helped set up a kind of foundation which has since had me finding myself going lucid pretty consistently..for the most part I guess I've gotten better at taking note of things that probably wouldn't happen in normal waking reality.. I guess it is probably somewhere along the lines of BanJankri's suggestion of a reality check.. Queue internal dialogue: "This couldn't possibly be happening..I must be dreaming"

That is when things can start to get interesting.. The hard part is keeping calm and not waking up - but that should also get a little easier the longer you consciously work with your dreams. On a side note, it seems quite a few people maintain that cutting back on the ole' ganja can also help immensely.
