As requested by MeatSpace...
    #3707151 - 01/31/05 11:01 AM (19 years, 1 month ago)

The crematorium owner who stashed 334 bodies on his land (and in his pond, barn, etc.) because of a malfunctioning oven got 75 years today. He may only serve 12.

I wish I could've seen what the families had to say to him, that would have to be hilarious.

In a malfunctioning crematorium, no less.

I think it would be far worse for him if they just released him back into the community. What a (possibly short) life that would have to be.

I still think thats a bit absurd. 75 years or possibly 12 years for just storing bodies. Shit given it was a ton of bodies, but it wasn't like he killed the people or anything. I mean it is fucked up what he did, but honestly 12 years fuck. He was prob just some greedy slackjawed yokle with compromised integrity. Really though whats so bad about that I mean it could be considered sacreligious, but looking at it from a non-moral standpoint look at what he did. He gave some people ashes that they believed to be from the burned bodies of their family, friends whatever. Its not like your gonna be able to bring them back or anything by ensuring that you have their ashes specifically. Basically the ashes are just carbon, carbon is in all kinds of organic material. The carbon in my body is no different than the carbon in a tree or a dog. Also, if I remember correctly you usually end up getting other peoples ashes and stuff with the ashes of your loved one when you have someone cremated. Either way that guy is a bit messed up, I just don't know if it warrants such a punishment. I could see massive civil lawsuits but 75-12 years goddamn. Although I guess if you consider it stealing, it would be stealing from a whole lot of people.

A year after Robert Crawford's February 2001 funeral, Walker County officials laid bare a landscape of decaying corpses at the dilapidated Tri-State Crematory near Noble, Ga. In the days that followed, 339 corpses that should have been cremated by Tri-State were salvaged from the crematory grounds. And Teri Crawford discovered that a portion of her brother's remains preserved in a small urn by his widow was adulterated with bits of metal, rock and silica. The sparkles seen by Crawford's friends were not his ashes, his sister said in a deposition unsealed last month.

He didn't provide the services (cremation) he was paid to provide. Multpile times. He deserves to be shot in the street.

I agree with a lot of your post. This may be of interest...

In Walker, Marsh faces 787 criminal charges associated with the Tri-State corpses -- 179 counts of abusing a dead body, 122 counts of burial service fraud for failing to perform cremations, 437 counts of theft by taking, two counts of attempted theft by taking and 47 counts of making a false statement in connection with signing death certificates that stated cremations had been performed.
