My pressure cooker doesn't have a pressure gauge
    #367050 - 08/05/01 02:16 AM (22 years, 7 months ago)

Dear All,

I'm following a tek that says I should sterilize jars at 12psi for 45 minutes.

I have borrowed a pressure cooker from a friend (I have cash flow problems!) but it doesn't have a pressure gauge. There's also no manual.

Is near enough good enough?

Any ideas?

Most pressure cookers are at a standard 15psi - mine's got no gauge, but i did a bit of research and found out that it was at 15... If your worried, just put your jars in for longer.

As long as the weight on top is rocking then you should have plenty of pressure.

One of my elves has a 'leaky' cooker which prolly only gets about 10 lbs of presure. He says he only pc's for about 20 minutes and has no problems.
