depends on what your goals are... self defense, fluidity of motion, spirituality, or just the ability to kick peoples asses. I think Kung-Fu is a good place for anyone to start though. There really isnt any best martial art, some are better, but all teach you multiple things. Good luck gorgeous

do some googling, but I think youll find kung-fu will answer your needs. Im not to big into tae-kwon, but check it out... most dojos allow a free session so try a couple out and see what you like.

The best martial art is mixed martial arts... a variety of styles combined the most efficiently.. For example.. Jeet Kune Do. It is essentially Wing Chun Kung Fu but embraces all styles that work.

Tae Kwon Do is crap.. do not waste your time. I would look into: Gong Fu (Kung Fu - specifically wing chun), Tai Chi, Qi Gong, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Jeet Kune Do. Only one of those styles has a belt system - jiu jitsu. Gong fu is for your all around ass kicking.. want to be able to block punches and counter them with your own etc etc take gong fu.. tai chi is on a whole other level.. qi gong is very intense like a physical body meditation, it is good for exercise and cleansing the body.. jiu jitsu is complete submission grappling.. good to know in addition to standing fighting technique.. jeet kune do is everything.

I would research a few different arts, but if you are going for all around effectiveness, increasing strength and spirituality.. go wing chun kung fu or jeet kune do. cant go wrong. If that isn't your bag check out Tai Chi Chuan (yang style..martial applications), or Chin Na.. wont increase your strength really, but you will have the ability to severely harm attackers

Tae Kwon Do is complete and total BS. Shroomism is right about that and Jeet Kun Do. Jeet Kun Do is a good mixture !!!

Tae Kwon Do is good for maybe two things.. learning to kick high and learning to kick hard. Other than that it's a complete waste of movement and you learn how to do everything wrong. It's designed for sport sparring.. scoring points against other people using Tae Kwon Do. Not efficient at all for real fights in real life.. or defending oneself. You could know Tae Kwon Do and be a good fighter... but that would only be because you have studied and applied other styles besides TKD
