Psychiatric study for cancer patients to measure psychoactive medication 30 Dec 2004 medicalnewstoday.com
Stage IV cancer patients who suffer from anxiety may want to investigate a research study approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) taking place at LA BioMed.
The specific aim of the study is to learn whether the psychoactive drug, psilocybin, might be effective in reducing anxiety, depression and physical pain, and therefore improving quality of life for Stage IV cancer patients.
Psilocybin is a novel agent that produces a profound alteration in your state of consciousness.
The FDA recently approved a similar study at Harvard University to see whether the illegal drug ecstasy can ease the debilitating anxiety that cancer patients feel as they face their final days.
To learn more about the study, see the project web site at http://www.canceranxietystudy.org. To contact the principal investigator of the study, Charles Grob, M.D., please call David Feuerherd at 310-215-0234 / 310-222-2820 or e-mail him at df@issuesmanagement.com.

PSYCHIATRIC RESEARCH STUDY FOR CANCER PATIENTS
The Los Angeles Biomedical Research Institute at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center is conducting a study designed to measure the effectiveness of the novel psychoactive medication psilocybin on the reduction of anxiety, depression, and physical pain.
In order to participate, you must:
- Have stage IV cancer and anxiety.
- Be between the ages of 18 - 70.
- Not have cancer that affects the central nervous system or brain function.
- Have no history of major psychiatric disorder.
- Have no kidney disease, abnormal liver functions, diabetes, epilepsy, or cardiovascular disease, including untreated hypertension.
- Not be taking insulin, oral hypoglycemic, anti-seizure, or heart medications.
If you qualify and choose to participate, you will
- Spend two nights at the hospital for medication administration.
- Receive psilocybin, a novel psychoactive medication.
- Get an MRI scan of the brain if you have not had one recently.

It seems because of these patient requirements, you must be a HEALTHY dying person.
In order to participate, you must:
* Have stage IV cancer and anxiety. * Be between the ages of 18 - 70. * Not have cancer that affects the central nervous system or brain function. * Have no history of major psychiatric disorder. * Have no kidney disease, abnormal liver functions, diabetes, epilepsy, or cardiovascular disease, including untreated hypertension. * Not be taking insulin, oral hypoglycemic, anti-seizure, or heart medications.
I predict total failure. Again, the US government shows that it is an idiot. It seems to me, that the only real requirement should be that the patient is not in pain. But even there, a small dose could be administered - say one gram of shrooms.
And then, the best way to do it would be to use the Professor"s ethanol crystal extraction method which reders pure psilocybin without any stomach problems - a huge plus! I have got a lot of posts from people who have tried the Professors ethanol crystal extraction tek and they all claim that there is no stomach problems - such as this one:
WARNING ON ALCOHOL SHROOM EXTRACTION </center> <p> Thoth (Dr_hyde)<br> Advanced Member<br> Username: Dr_hyde<br> Post Number: 84<br> Registered: 09-2004<br> Posted on Wednesday, September 15, 2004 - 01:29 am: <P> I finished off the last few mils of my last extraction. There was a bit of sediment in the bottem of the bottle. I did not think nothing of it, and drank it expecting a 4 gram type trip. <P> I got more of a 20 or 30 gram trip. The sediment must have been almost pure magic. I have done 20 grams dried before and it was many times more intense than that. It was totaly freaking insane. Actualy quite interesting, but not something I hope to do again in a few years or so. <P> This was about 200g of dry material to everclear, the BIG bottle. Its been in the freezer for 4 months, gave most of it away, guess I got the best part.. <P> Stranger yet no bad stomach at all. I had to force myself to purge. <P> It just wore me out, very tired.

But then, I might be quite off. They will most certainly use synthetic psilocin. And then again, the research team would have to grow their own shrooms (PF TEK style). But since they have got DEA clearance, there would be no problem with that.
It would be good to show the patients the shrooms growing, and let them check out some dried specimens. And then they will understand what they are doing. Instead of some chemical or pill, they will know they are experiencing something from the realm of nature. And with the crystals, they will most likely have a very nice experience, totally controllable, (but not as controllable as a pharmaceutical drug form of the shrooms magic).
I just don't see these scientists really know what they are doing.
But hey, anything is better than what is going on now with the magic shrooms (schedule one illegal drug, considered medically useless and dangerous).

I need to add something to this concept. As far as myself goes, I have had a very heavy relationship to these shrooms. I have had dozens of serious level 10 (1 to 10 rating) experiences. I always did it by myself, in the privacy of my own realm. I have had a few experiences where my "third eye" tweaked open and saw things from the realm of what I would call the "dead". These shrooms are all about that. The sillyness, the pretty colors, the undulating walls and floors ect are just for starters. Most people seem to stop there. To really see what these shrooms can do for you takes a serious investment in personal intention and also, one cannot make demands of the shrooms. All one can do is take the shrooms, lay back and say "OK, what are you going to show me today - I'm ready".
Scientists have no idea about these things unless they are experienced. The books reveal nothing.
