mother nature will allways kill off people when thers to many, not to say thats what this trajedy is, but balence will allways be restored whether mother nature does it or we do it.

We and Nature are separate beings, but we live within each other. More of us need to learn that and then hopefully we will then do something constructive about the situation of the world for once.

PEACE

:mushroom2:zippoz:mushroom2:

"in times of widespread chaos and confusion, it has been the duty of more advanced human beings - artists, scientists, clowns, and philosophers - to create order. In such times as ours however, when there is too much order, too much m management, too much programming and control, it becomes the duty of superior men and women and women to fling their favorite monkey wrenches into the machinery. To relieve the repression of the human spirit, they must sow doubt and disruption"

"People do it every day, they talk to themselves ... they see themselves as they'd like to be, they don't have the courage you have, to just run with it."

I don't think it's reasonable to suppose that mother nature is an invisible ego-awareness keeping tabs on how many people there are, figuring out efficient ways to trim the numbers down whenever necessary, as though she were a woman in a straw hat pruning a shrub.

When populations increase, the potential for their collapse also increases. The more dense the population, the greater the potential for epidemic and disease. The more people inhabit a certain region, the more will perish when that region comes into turmoil. It is the density of population itself which is the cause of it's reduction. That is how nature operates. It is a natural tendency toward equalization not unlike heat exchange or the flow of water.

We as human beings have co-opted this process, however. With our medicine, our technology, our agriculture, we have attempted to prevent nature from behaving as it does. Because we have had some success, our numbers have skyrocketed into the billions, and our presence on the earth threatens the planet itself.

However, mankind has not become God; he has not nor will we ever seize total control over the nature of things. Eventually, the dam we have put against nature will collapse, and a catastrophe many times greater than that in south east Asia will slash our numbers on this planet. Perhaps then we will realize that our attempt to find happiness and security by controlling our surroundings was childish and misguided, that it is much more effective to develop a patient acceptance for what is. Que sera, sera, one might say.

The great Tao flows everywhere,
to the left and to the right.
All things depend upon it to exist,
and it does not abandon them.
To its accomplishment it lays no claim.
It loves and nourishes all things,
But does not lord it over them.

The Tao is not arrogant,
Nor does it condemn arrogance.
Arrogance comes from the tao,
but is not of the Tao.
Since the Tao is free from arrogance,
What is the need to invent the concept 'arrogance'?

The Tao has no purpose,
And for this reason fulfils all its purposes admirably.

>maybe this is natures way to tell them they are too many?

I would have thought she'd go after new york, or hong kong. ( If I thought nature was out to stop us)

Nature wouldnt even care what we do, there is an infinate amount of time after we fill up this planet and kill our selves off and even then after an ice age or 2 the world will be back to the basics.

If that was natures way of telling us that there are too many people, it would have washed over L.A.
