I would suggest starting with the McGreen series (it's actually History Ends in Green) as it's the best overview of his thought and theory in my opinion. But it is true that all of his lectures are really interesting so you can't go wrong no matter which one start with, just work your way through all of them eventually. I wish Terence was still alive, he was a truly great man, I would have enjoyed meeting him in the flesh.

I saw a post similar to this a while ago and Food of the Gods was recommended for a first timer. You can get it here http://mckenna.psychedelic-library.org/ . I've listened to it and I can also recommend it.

and drag & drop each .mp3 link into the basket
set over night.
wake up the next day with all of the mckenna audio library
on your computer.
like I said before, I think it would be smart to go ahead
and download all of 'em & archive. If the site (and its mirror)
were ever taken down, it would be a bitch to locate
each .mp3 - and you'd kick yourself for losing all of these rare
mckenna recordings forever.

I was talking about terrence the other day with a friend... he had an interesting critique of terrence...
Basically what he said was that terrence was a fraud, that he didn't really believe in the shamanic way.
He came to this realization by watching what terrence did in his final days...
All his life, terrence extolled the virtues of shamanic medicine, praising the shamanic way for curing diseases, even cancer, that western medicine couldn't touch...
But when terrence had a brain tumor, did he go see a shaman? No, he went to a doctor, who gave him chemo and radiation and pronounced terrence terminally ill...
so when western medicine failed terrence, did he go see a shaman? No, he went to mexico to get gene therapy that was illegal in the US.
When that failed also, did he go see a shaman? No, he just gave up and died.
I'm not sure if all that was accurate, but it did make me think.

this is a website mirroring program. Works like a charm. It takes a small piece of bandwidth (20-25 kB/s) and you can do anything else while the good stuff rolls in.
