2 questions, hygrometer and salvia...

Righty then....
1) I was about to buy a hygrometer but thought I should get some opinions first. Seeing as they are only measuring a percentage and generally for most plants it doesn't need to be THAT accurate does it really matter how shoddy the hygrometer is?
I have one in my cigar humidor that looks fairly cheapy, but it varies gradually depending on how I keep the humidifier watered so I presume it is accurate.
I was about to buy this cos its so cheap and has a thermometer too but just wanted to see first:

2) Quick question that has probably been answered before but i can't find it... what humidity level should Salvia been grown at? My leaves are looking a little crispy and we have central heating so I think I should boost the levels.
Also, come to think of it, what is the easiest was of boosting the humididty?!
Should I just do like mushroom and have a pot of wet perlite nearby or something?
