trying to salvage my first attempt, quite a debacle
    #3429323 - 11/30/04 06:22 PM (19 years, 3 months ago)

well, my first attempt has sucked so far, but i'm a trooper, lol.

right now, i realized that my cakes were not going to colonize anymore (they were WAY too watered, newbie mistake). i was pinning in some of the colonized parts for a few days, so i knew i had to do something. i took the cakes out, they were mainly half verm, half mycellium. i scraped as much access mycellium off the cakes as i could, but it wasn't near perfect. i realized that these aren't pure mycellium, so i have to case them (as they'd certainly become contaminated i'd imagine if i didn't). i put the remnants in a big plastic bag and mashed it up, it ended up pretty brown from the verm.

if i case it, will i see any growth? i was getting pinning in parts.

any suggestions? they cakes were really wet, slippery to the touch.

i'm pretty screwed, but its a learning experience.

should i just continue with a casing tek and pray for the best?

thanks.

I would say go for it, any reason not to at this point? If you were getting some pins, there is hope for growth!

I don't see any reason why not. At worst you won't get anything, which would of probably happened if you left them as cakes since they would probably contam. I would let it sit for a while before casing to let the myc. grow.
