i have read a lot about the birdseed substrates (btw finch seed is bird seed yes/no?) and most make themselves sound quite dififcult to pull off correctly, so any help would be appreciated. personal opinions are always good!

i've tried cambo's, pf, and amazonians...all were pretty good but i'm looking to get better with different substrates. i've cased with 50/50+, straight verm, and want to try cocofiber next. i'd like to use a better substrate than brf/verm though.

abba....there is a good tek for pan cyans (supposedly the 4th most potent mushroom in the world). it's on the shroomery. it's got a weird way to case, but it uses wood chips not cocoa fiber. if you want a challenge and a potent crop, find some pan cyan prints.

Birdseed is ok, monkey likes rye better. It smells good when you cook it, it's got good nutrient levels, shakes well and the shrooms just luv it.

If you want a bigger yeald. How about using up that space you have in your cake that's filled with verm. and replace it with more substrate?? meaning - scrach adding the verm to the substrate and just make an ALL-substrate cake 9er Tek Now with the bird seed ... using it isn't a DEFINATE way to get more yealds. When pressure cooked and colonized it does increase the spawning of dung a little but my monkeys think it's just because the grains are smaller and more easily spread out. With pans it's great. There realy is no SUPER SUBSTRATE other than.... tadaaaaaaa.... dung, crap, manure call it what you like - shrooms live on this ! So if you want to increase your yealds i suggest you read the link a couple of times, make some cakes , buy yourself some manure, pasturize the manure, and spawn it with your cakes. Easy as pie ... peace and good luck
