anyone ever made one with a clear rubbermaid container, two holes cut for rubber gloves which are then sealed from the outside (so you could work inside the tub without opening the tub (once the elements are in there) - - any thoughts or suggestions?

I just did some g2g about 10 min ago with a rubbermaid with holes cut for arms and and a simply piece of plastic hanging over the holes. Set it in my bathroom cleaned thoroughly, ran hepa for an hour, lysol and oust like crazy. I'll let you know how it goes...
However, the colonized jar that I did the grain to grain with was initially colonized using a colonized PF cake that I cut a chunk off and threw into the rye jar. It colonized in less than a week with no problems.
Oh yeah, I also wore latex gloves and a mask and antibacterial soap up my arms real good. So it seems that it can be done...

I wash my hands with antibacterial, lay a sterilite tub sideways, spray lysol in it, and do my g2g's in there.
I'd recommend a glovebox or a flowhood. My method works great for me however.

You could make a glove box - like you describe. Or, if you have a little hepa filter (or not), simply scrub down your bathroom (as it is small & usually almost all tile - or Formica), remove all cloth, take jars into bathroom, (run filter if you have one - for 15 minutes), spray Lysol all over the place (including your arms & hands), wearing just boxers, a shower cap to cover your hair & a surgical mask. Shut off filter (if applicable), with slow deft movements - do G2G. Worked for this old hand - hundreds of times. Then - upgrade to a flow/hood (if applicable).

PC proof grommet that holds a tyvek filter membrane in place (on both inside & exterior) over ? inch hole in lid..
You can build all sorts of lids.
Here is one with an exterior filter & injection port
Here is a simple one, with injection port

Hey Agar, Ive been wanting to make some injector site lids. Only problem is I cant find any self healing inector material. Where'd ya get it? You should write a tek on making specialty lids. I think a lot of people would be interested in your methods. Especially me.

The ones you can PC look like this (above). Search google for "septa plug". They are out there - but hard to find. I bought a bag full a couple years back - from a west coast "surplus" medical supply place, but it isn't in Biz any longer.
Sorry, I don't have an easy ready source - on hand. Just seek & you shall find. Good luck.

Great site, low prices and a minimum order requirement of only $10. Much better than all the ones I had found in the past that required at-least a $200 order. Especially with the fact that, as we all should know, by law any orders of over $100 in lab equipment has to be reported to the government by the company. How well do those hold up in the PC as far as number of times they can be reused. Will they harden up over time like the PC's O-ring? Just wondering how many I should order so I never run out.

The PC gasket WILL harden over time IF you use vegetable oil as a conditioner guaranteed, believe me I've went thru a couple already, now it's petroleum jelly and they are as good as the day I got them. Now as far as those septa plugs I couldn't tell ya I'm a bagman now and never really used those YET I will be incoorperating them into my liquid inoc teks coming up GL guys

I to am a bagman, but would like to use them for liquid. Right now I am using those self-molding ear plugs, but they do not last that long and cost more than those plugs.

For you guys that have hepa filters, you should consider making it into a flowhood by working in it's airstream.
AFOAF has a rubbermaid with the bottom cut out. He ducktaped a garbage bag to the bottom, & cut out the bottom of the garbage bag. Whenever he wants to use his hepa as a flowhood, he simply lysols the rubbermaid with the garbage bag taped to it & slips the cut out bottom over the top of his hepa so that nothing but filtered air blows through the rubbermaid. He's left open cultures in the airstream sometimes for days without contam.

Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed... The cost of one modern heavy bomber is this: a modern brick school in more than 30 cities. We pay for a single fighter with a half million bushels of wheat. We pay for a single destroyer with new homes that could have housed more than 8,000 people..." President Dwight Eisenhower, 1953
