How Much Water For Rye Flour???

im using organic rye flour and i think im using to much water and its causing my cakes to get contaminated at the first signs of growth.and before the growth my jars smell rotted.i know this is a sign of contamination but i let them grow anyway...the fanaticus method calls for 1/4 cup of brown rice powder a 1/4 or 1/2 cup of vemiculite..im not sure...and about a quarter cup of water...and im using a 1/2 cup of rye flour and about a half cup of water..there isnt any water on the sides or bottom of the jar when im finished but ive checked my cakes after theyve been contaminated and they were very wet and soggy...im not sure if brown rice powder is the same as rye FLOUR...i would think flour is thicker..ive heard rye flour works and it shown that it has,and im sure any contam problems were my fault...so if anybody has experience with this plaese drop the answer cuz my new spores should be here monday=Equador and mexi cub from fanaticus....the spores i used for this were stropharia cubensis and some honey water mycelium made from the spores with 100 percent success.....peace and thanks

I used 8 cups of verm, 2 cups of brown rice flour, and 1 cup of organic rye flour, and 3 cups of water. There was alot of extra substrate for 12 half pint jars, but that's ok. It's my first time growing, but it seems fine. Colonizing kinda slow though (P.C. Plantasian Mystery), first signs of mycelium were on day 6 (innoculation counted as day 0). Here's a pic of my substrate (attatchment). I'm not sure if I helped, but I think your substrate should be fine...just make sure it's moist, and no puddles of water or anything.
