My first year of law school was when I first figured out that I was ADHD. Or maybe the middle of my second year. When I started taking Adderall, my grades went up a whole grade point.

oh, I see. Isnt that the psuedo-disorder that alienated psychiatrists label 3rd graders with instead of simply seeing that they are just creative and/or bored?

I'd definitely do Adderal or Ritalin if I had the chance to. It's always good to get top grades.

that stuff always makes me get my HW done, but its really state-dependent learning for me... i seem to forget the content of my HW the next day.

Yep. I wish there were schools to where we could send our gifted kids. I think it's too bad that people have to be labeled anything, and be given drugs. But honestly, if I don't take Adderall, I will not be as organized or able to stay on top of my shit.
Same with my kids. When they are not on drugs, they can't do shit and they get really frustrated, and they get low grades. On drugs, they do extremely well, because they are very intelligent.
I don't know what we would call the disorder "ADHD". I know the symptoms exist. I know that drugs help the symptoms.
It would be cool if kids could be sent to schools geared to ADHD kids, and they didn't have to take drugs. But then I think that hell, I'm an adult and I have to take drugs to be able to function in the work I do. I don't know what the answer is going to ultimately be.

well...I question many times if I (or a couple other million people) really need ADD medication. When the doctor "tested" me for it...he asked like 10 questions, and they were like "In class, do you get bored of sitting there for 2 hours?" or "Do you have trouble concentrating on tasks?"
Basically, either a "legitimate" ADD kid or any stoner would fail this ADD test, so it is def. bullshit and everyone getting rich.
However, I do love popping a pill, smokin a joint, drinking coffee, and heading off to study.

I agree that the diagnosis is handed out too freely. But some of us really do have trouble with our brains.
This is sort of embarassing, but see, I do a lot of fucked up things.
Just today, I stopped at a traffic meter to park and put a couple of dollars in quarters in it, and then I got back in my car and started to drive off. Luckily I stopped myself before I completely lost the space.
I don't stay on top of my work when I don't take Adderall. I get disorganized. It's difficult to get stuff done, to focus on it.
I get lost really easily, I forget things, lose things, etc. I lost my car in Houston, once. That was the biggest thing I ever lost. Usually I lose my keys.
I have a friend who smokes pot and takes Adderall and claims that the combo makes her brain work better.
