I recieved spores from MicroTech (cambodian)
Is this a reliable vendor and is this a good strain for a first timer?
4 days since inoculation and i still don't see anything.
ps. there were no visible spores in the syringe..is this normal?

Eh, I'd go with a sponser. TLG or Ralphsters have AMAZING spore syringes. They're perfect. And 4 days is nothing. It can take 2 weeks... so relax on that. Also, spores are microscopic. If you see ANY at all in the syringe, that's millions in a group. You're ok... just stick to sponsors and you'll be better off GL on the grow man!

My jars are in total darkness with temps at about 80.
They are sealed air tight however... should i take the tape off and cover the lid with foil.
how long did it take you to see mycelium?

I first saw mycelium yesterday (day four), but I also have the temp at 86. I have tape on now except for jar #4, the next batch I do I'm not gonna tape, just foil. I plan on taking the tape off around 25-30% colonization. I wouldn't put foil on there that's not sterilized, and if you do take the tape off make sure its in a clean environment, I've been doing the oven TEK thing. My lids are snug, not loose (right where it starts to grab), with the rubber side up. I think you should see something soon. Good luck!

I'm going with a Mycobag, and it took 5 days (at about 81-82) to see mycelium growth. It probably would've grown faster if I didn't check on it so often. This hobby sure teaches a little patience!

i would firts off take some lysol and spray the shit out of the house then open the jars take the tape off, wipe down the lids with rubbing alchole and then put tin foil on them.i dont know about those spores, usally when i purchase syranges from sporemagic.com they come in clean water with little black specs of spore print in them........good luck.

Hmmm... not sure why you told him to open jars. That can cause major contam problems. Take off the tape but _don't_ open the jars. If you have a verm layer on top you should be fine without covering the top with tin foil. You can put a coffee filter over the top and secure it with a rubber band or just let it go. The verm is the contam barrier. Next time try Tyvek discs. They work miracles.

Yea, till yesterday when I first saw the mycelium I was checking them five or six times a day(also to make sure the temp was right but mostly I just wanted to see something growing ;]) Now I'm only gonna check once a day to photo and log the growth.

Thanks for all the input.
You guys are great.
I think I'll wait until I atleast see some sign of mycelium growth before I remove the tape. If not the jars are no good anyway!

If you meant micro-supply then no, they are not a reputable company as they've repeatedly ignored my e-mail requests to remove my pic(s)from their website.
I have no idea as to the quality of their product but I would never trust them.
