Cool Mist Setups

Hey all...
My friend has asked me to help him set a cool mist supply terrarium. I was wondering if you could show me some setup pics of yours so we can know where to start. He already has bought the cool mist humidifier. It is the wick type that has a fan and about a 6" opening for the "mist" to exit. My friend was lost as to what he should do to make that 6" opening into a 5/8" hose to connect to the terrarium. Thanks in advance.

That is the wrong Cool Mist. You do NOT want the ones with the Wick system. You want the "Vicks Cool Mist". You can find them at local drug stores.

Then, goto Home-Depot, and buy the following.

A 1" hole saw
3/4" ID Tubing
2x 3/4" Liquid Tight fittings(Electrical Department)

Here is a Vicks and setup to a Martha.

That is a setup similar to the one in the Magash Rye tek, correct? I also see that you have an ultrasonic hooked up to it also, what is the benifit of both???

A cool mist by itself can't keep the humidity high enough in a martha without some help. The ultrasonic comes on every few hours for a few minutes

Magash, thanks for the reply. I had two questions for you though, where did you purchase your martha, what is the brand name on it? Also, my buddy and I have been looking for rye berries forever with no success, where do you purchase yours???

It is Martha Stewart Closet.

He got it at K-Mart


Rye Berries you can get at local health food stores.

I have a martha setup and I run the ultrasonic 1/2 hour on 1 hour off, is this too much?

Martha closet is $31 shipped from kmart online, depending on how my current casings go, i might be getting one soon.

It took me only one round of using a fish tank setup to switch to the martha. It is really not all that expensive when you weigh it against the benifits. Its actually far less than some tank setups and gives you so much room to view the lil guys. On top of all that, constant air exchange without fanning is great, though it can be done with a tank it would cost about the same as a martha. Though she is in camp cupcake she suyre has made this mycological dream even sweeter. Martha for president :usa: :usa:
