Syringe Water Injection? Help Newbie **Pictures**

The growth of the mycelium in my PF style 1/2 pint jars seems to be slowing down. It looks like the substrate is becoming dry. I used 2 parts vermiculite to 1 part BRF to 1 part water. Would it be okay to inject water into the substrate with a sterile syringe?
Check out my jars at : http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/bjared2004/DSCF0362.jpg
Also, is this good colonization for 2 weeks after inoculation?

Wow man, that's all you've got after 2 weeks?
I would also like to know more about this tek, I have some experimental jars that are too dry that I would like to salvage.

Are you using an incubator?

Discman, thanks for the encouragement... lol Is the colonization really that behind? I havent been able to find images of mycelium growth at the same stage as me.

Here are some pics of what my first jars looked like after 7 days. These are Cambodian. Here's what they looked like 5 days later, a total of 12 days. Hope that helps.. and I hope someone posts info about water injection. That is why I was asking the proper way to sterilize a syringe the other day. Edit: That is most likely your problem. Get those temps up to 86?F ASAP! I noticed a big growth rate improvement just raising my incubator temps from 80 to 86?F.

Discman, did you use an incubator? How long did it take to fully colonize the jars? Is Cambodian a faster colonizer than B+? Do you think there is something wrong with my substrate?
PLEASE...

I keep my jars at 84F. Don't want to warm them up too much you know. Just get them within 82-85F. You'll see remarkable growth.

and oh yeah.. don't inject water. Don't question the water content. I'll be okay. Number one reason for stalled jars is too much water.
Good luck

Thanks Sam, and Discman. Also, I need some method of incubation w/o a heat pad, or aquarium heater. I cannot store these jars in the open, ie. computer, fridge.

Yes, I had my temperatures between 80 and 86?F the whole time. 70?F is much too low, I bet it is your problem. I'm not sure how Cambodian compares to B+. It was definately much, much faster than my Ecuador jars. This is all I had after 7 days on the Ecuador: Assuming you mixed it up at the proper ratios, there should be nothing wrong with your substrate. Get those temps up! My incubator consists of a cardboard box on the top shelf of a large bookcase. My room is warm, and temps up there stay at about 75?F by themselves. To raise the temp to the proper ~85?F, I use a small 18" T8 15W fluorescent bulb. The box is propped up with some books, and the light fixture sits under it on a timer, 1 hour on, 1 hour off. Temp right now is 82.8?F, and the light should come back on in about 20 minutes.
