Reality is your mirror.

Your world is exactly what you are. ~Vernon Howard.
If you looked in the mirror and did not like what you saw, you would have to be insane to attack the image in the mirror. That is precisely what you do when you are in a state of inner resistance to what is, in a state of nonacceptance. And, of course, if you attack the image, it attacks you back. If you accept the image, no matter what it is, if you become friendly toward it, it cannot not become friendly toward you. This is how you change the world.
Water is naturally the most yielding and flexible liquid in this world. It flows through all with no resistance. Compare this to stones that are solid and nonflexible, which creates the most resistance within the same path which the water flows through and hence does not go very far. All rocks will get stuck on the ground, at one point or another. In the river of Life, do you want to be the water, or do you want to be the rock?
The flexible overcome the adamant, the yielding overcome the forceful. ~Lao Tzu.

good post skorpivonian. I was thinking about making a similar one.
Sort of along the lines of be the change that you want to see.
Reality is your mirror, so if you want to change your reality, start by changing yourself.
This rabbit hole goes deep.

You'd want to be both the water and the rock for a more flexible nature.

Thanks for the contributions, everyone. Cornelius, touche`... After looking at all these quotes, one would almost think something must be going on between Asians and H2o eh? You'd want to be both the water and the rock for a more flexible nature. For discussion's sake, let's say there is indeed a circumstance where being rock-solid is truly, and overall, advantageous over being flexible and yielding as water. It would be the totality of combined factors that amalgamate together forming the overall circumstance that creates the appropriate response of becoming solidified. There is such a circumstance when it comes to water as well.. Ice. Water can be solid, liquid, and gaseous. Rocks can not be all three. Anyhow, this is veering beyond the original point of what this thread was geared towards ? extrinsic reality reflecting intrinsic reality. The examples relating to nature were simply to exemplify the prior point being made in regards to inner resistance creating external resistance. The more resistance there is, the more pain and suffering there is, and less flow. Be Fluidic.

Someone once asked me that, "Do you want to be the water, or the rock?" Of course, initially, I thought the rock. But he explained that the water will eventually erode the rock after continuous flow around the rock. The water is steady but bends. The rock is hard and resisting.
I like your post, Skorp. I was just posting something along these lines on another thread. I can't hate reality when reality is what I percieve.
