Another Find - ID needed.

Poor pics again, camera really is bollocks. Caps, 8-10mm wide, 4-6mm tall, and quite conical. Creamy buff, with a distinctive dark brown band around the edge. A lot darker than the rest of the cap, and slightly serated at the edge. Vertical bands appear around the edge of the cap. Gills, the same dark brown as the band around the cap. Slightly wavy at the edge, but otherwise even. Stems, creamy towards the top, darkening further down. Approx. 40mm long, 1mm wide. Quite twisty on some specimens. Spores are black. Any Help Please? I was thinking panaelous sphinctrinus, but the colour is too pale.

Certainly sounds like some type of pan mabie acuminatus or foe, but what were they growing from?

They're growing by the stump of a willow tree, in my front garden. I've got some foe specimens, there's no comparison.

Dude seriously this is my third time telling you, USE THE MACRO SETTING ON YOUR DIGITAL CAMERA. It will allow you to focus on objects close up. You're camera is not shitty, I saw the grass behind your blurry hand and mushrooms in your other post. Se the flower (rose) on the dial? That is your macro setting, almost every digital camera has one. Make sure you have that option on, and retake the picture.

Ok...since we're getting technical here. I have used my macro setting and the pics seem to be MORE blurry. Is there a trick to getting fab pics?
Move the camera in tight? Use the zoom?
ALSO...when I have to downsize the file so that I can post I seem to loose the nice quality of the pics. How do you guys get nice clear shots for the board?
THANKS! It's been bugging me...being the arsty fartsy type. I like pretty pics! *grin

the trick is to get real close with the zoom all the way out.. and pull the camera back as you zoom in .. until you find the optimal focus point.. i think i can assume no one has ever used the close up macros and got a more blurry picture from it

also if you are totally unknowing about the camera make sure you only press it half way down to focus.. and then when you see it clear then press all the way down

Well mine does ok with the macro enabled. A lot of it has to do with the lenth in which you hold the cam from the mushroom.
Also, other things in the image can steal the focus (if auto-focus is enabled).
Oh, and i use my own server (im the co-owner) to host the images in public_html so that i dont have to worry about any file size limits. The file storage for my domain is 800 mb.
You might want to sign up with angelfire or geocities. They are free but the file space is usually 20-30 MB max for free sites.

Thanks...I'll play around a little bit more with it. I like taking quality shots...so I guess I'll have to work at it a little bit more.

from my experience with camera's when you turn macro on you have to get close to the mushies for it to have good focus cuz if you turn macro on and your same distance as a normal picture it will be blurry as hell.

Like I said, my camera's a piece of shit. There is no dial, rose or macros. I might as well chuck the bastard in the canal.
