50$ bucks for a book bag.
    #3138086 - 09/15/04 09:23 AM (19 years, 7 months ago)

So I'm walking out of my Health Policies class and walk into the main part of campus where i start hearing someone say "Excuse me! ....Excuse me!" Now often I don't think people are ever talking to me out of the blue, so I just keep walking, I don't ever look. Turns out though this person was talking to me.

So she catches up with me and asks me about my book bag. So I say, "ummm....what?" She proceeds to tell me she's been looking everywhere for this Navy(ish) Blue Jansport Backpack that I have and cannot find one anywhere. I say, "Not even off the internet?" She responds "Not even off the internet." It's at this point she offers to buy it off me for 50$. I still hesitate, but she tells me to think about and she'll be back at this same place the next week. So the otherday I'm walking out of my class again and get to a point and see her waiting. I think, wtf, 50 bucks for a used Jansport backpack that I've had for 5+ years? Hell yeah I'll do it.

So now i'm 50 bucks richer and i don't have a backpack. I had my girlfriend do some research and she found within a few minutes on the net (i called her right after the offer) she found the backpack, exact same one i have for 25-30$. So as a precaution for scam, i checked the bills for authenticity once she gave them to me. THey were legit. So now i'm backpackless, and 50 bucks richer. If i buy a new one the exact same kind i'll be anywhere between 20 and 25 bucks richer plus have a new backpack.

It was a rather weird experience. Just thought I'd share.

You should of asked her out on a date. Or atleast a casual romp at your place in exchange for the bag.

i <3 flea markets, or rather, expatriots who buy things without using them and sell items for rediculous prices...i was lucky to buy one of those jansport bags with the airlift system for just 15 euros...i looked on the internet how much it was retailed and it's 110 dollars! such a nice savings...and the bag wasn't used either

That's exactly what my girlfriend said. If she comes back to talk to me again then maybe i'll conceed her and your point. But i don't really think she wanted anything other than the book bag. But i'm still amazed she'd pay 50 bucks for it. The money was real, i checked cause i was skeptical.
