Possible myco problem with jar
    #3122060 - 09/11/04 11:39 AM (19 years, 6 months ago)

I inoculated on the 25th of last month and the myco has been making progress untel about a week ago. The bottem of the jar is good but it looks like there is no growth at the top. I fliped the jar so that it is upsidedown and still nothing happens. Any ideas?

Got pictures?

Did you take the tape off?
Is there a hole in the top?

this happens to me alot too, i just case as normal, with it like 90 - 95% colonized, no worries.. just make sure there is no contam on the uncolonized part and you are fine, goodluck!

the substrate at the top may heve dried out a bit... give it a little more time and see how things go.

Or you could birth them and 'trim' the uncolonized part off if the rest makes for a nice cake. Or crumble and case like TripleB suggested, that works good too. If you haven't given them like several days since you flipped them then wait a bit more though.

if u do decide to case, and still hav sum uncolonized cakke in there... definately sterilisze the substrate and try to keep everything away from the nutrient rich substrate.

make sure the tape is off of the jars, and if the top isdry, inject sum sterile water with that good old syringe.
