Tyvek for gas exchange - adequate?
    #3095997 - 09/05/04 06:42 PM (19 years, 6 months ago)

Simple enough. Is a couple Tyvek screens in the walls of a terrarium adequate for gas exchange and getting the CO2 out? Would I need to fan daily anyway?

No Co2 is a heavy gas and it will just lay in the bottom of glass box. Fanning is nessary.

Thanks. Well that's annoying... What about having the bottom of the screens even with the perlite? Hmm, I'm just trying to think of the best way to keep contaminants out when fanning. For spacial and economic reason, I'm not up to air pumps at the moment.

How would space be invloved in air pumps, they take up like a 10 square inches space. Also you can get them pretty cheap at walmart. I got a dual pump for under ten dollars, After the air stones you shouldnt have to pay more then 20 bucks for the whole thing.

Them spiders are always watching.... waiting....
They know when ur not fanning and always get in there and cobweb ur shit up.
Keep the spiders away and fan (or automate)
Good Luck!

The good thing about a CO2 drainage hole is that it costs you nothing and takes up no space.

I'm not sure if tyvek is as good as a polyfilled drainage hole, but they say it does allow air exchange.
