Yo i opened up a couple of jars in my terrarium like 4 days ago and they are still not forming pins. The mycellium is fluffy and healthy looking but for some reason theyre not popping up. Any ideas why this is happening. i used rice to colonize and its all completely covered with mycellium but nothings happening.

Well have you induced your three pinning triggers? 1. Fresh air exchange 2. Light 3.Temp drop

:BigNautical Dude why in the hell would you think that there should be pins on the fourth day? Where are you getting this BS? Add reading to the list also. (guess I should take my own medicine too)

thanks hawksapprentice i was under the impression from a friend that they popped up soon after opening them up. I guess i was just being zealous.
And fast fred I was wondering why you think I would want to read an insolent remark like that. If you cant come up with a constructive retort dont bother commenting at all.

Ive seen em pop up sooner than a week in the past. But on the most part i see em take about a week. But it can take longer than a week also.

Well, you can fruit them even in the jar... But if you do things normally it's going to be 7-11 days for pins. Maybe 6.5 days once in awhile or even 6, but never, ever 4.

bullshit. i've had pins in jars, and pins the day after birthing. they pin when they're ready, which is when they've eaten everything and the conditions are right.

If you go here... http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat...rt=all&vc=1
You'll see I just birthed my twice flushed cake, and have pins on the second day. I guess though that my case is probably different as it's a pre-flushed case.

Please share your "one day pinning tek" then.
I've done plenty and never had a pin before 6-7 days... Except when left in the jars a long time, prematurely exposed to light, or some other odd condition.
As I already mentioned, you can pin them in the jars if you want. You can dump them out one day before they pin invitro and then say you have a pin in one day, but that's not what anyone here is talking about. PF tek... Normal conditions...

Id also like to add that another trigger that is being forgotten her is U need High Humidty. Just thought id add a bit. U must be patient cause pins take time. Alot longer than alot of people brag about on these boards. Peace
Also i notice u didnt have any ratings yet so i gave u 5 shrooms for making it this far! Good Luck!

Good point SubGen1us. Excess fanning can drop the humidity if you are only using perlite, so it's a fine line between the humidity and the fresh air pinning triggers. I'm still waiting to hear about the "one day pinning tek" from Shirley though. -FF

What the hell are you talking about? Try explaining yourself instead of just making lame and vague acusations. I tried to help you and this is how you repay me? You didn't even bother to read any of the 1000's of places all across the net and here at the shroomery that would have told you that pins do not usually appear in four days under normal conditions. -FF

The botom line here is you can expect pins frome the first 24 hours until 15 days later.
I have had them 36 hours after birthing several times. Adverage time following all the best conditons for me is 3-5 days.
Some strains do better then others. Doing a dunk and roll can add a couple extra days but, man what a difference.
I'd say you just need to be Mello and take it easy. My guess is you'll have fat pins by end of this weekend.

I'm hearing some pretty tall tails here...
If you expose your jars to light, I suppose anything can happen at any time.
I started a poll to see if this super fast pinning is BS or not. If your going to claim pins at two days, you should provide some details on your setup, what methods you are using, and the strain.

Look dude your the one who said Myc. can pin in the dark so why are you even saying what you are saying. YOU ARE STARTING TO PISS ME OFF I did make a vote in your poll. 3 days was my vote. I have had several birthed jars go to pins in 36 hours. I don't have to prove a fuckin thing to you. I have the agreement from several much more qualified people than you.
