How tough is mycellium when it comes to withstanding temps?
    #3074865 - 08/31/04 04:46 PM (19 years, 6 months ago)

Im going to try and colonize some jars outdoors. Yes, colonize, not fruit.

I need to know how hot it can get without them dieing and whats the coldest as well? It doesnt get that hot mid 80s on a very hot day. Mid 50s are the coldest lows. 80/60 on average.

If I were to use spent cakes outdoors to make a casing, do you think they could survive a nasty winter and fruit the following spring?

As far I know myc will survive 40-95 degs. But it stops growing under 55 degs. I once had to put jars under my porch one fall in sep. because of the work my landlord was doing to the house. In the first week of nov. I had to bring them in because of freezing temps. They had only colinized about 40% in 8 weeks. Temps during day were 60-75 at night 40-65. I live in MICH. So All I can say Is GOODLUCK
